Yukon Child Passenger Safety: For Drivers

This is a car seat, booster seat, and seat belt basics workshop for program staff, drivers, volunteers, and care providers who transport children in the Yukon. Everyone involved in transporting children can play a part in keeping children safe in the car. This 2-3 hour on-demand workshop will guide you through the basics of child passenger safety, including:

  • The importance of child passenger safety

  • How to choose an appropriate seat

  • How to buckle a child into a seat

  • Proper car seat and booster seat installation

  • When and how to get more help

  • Do you offer discounts to organizations or when purchased in quantity?

    Yes! If you are a larger organization that serves children and families and would like to offer this workshop to your staff or volunteers, please contact us at [email protected] to discuss volume pricing discounts. If you are a Yukon Government Family and Children's Services (FCS) employee or caregiver, this workshop may be available to you at no charge.   • Can you invoice me for multiple people instead of paying individually?

  • Is this a certification course?

    No, this workshop does not provide certification but participants will receive a record of completion via email. This workshop provides an overview of car seat and booster seat basics, but does not certify a person to provide the services of a Child Passenger Safety Technician.

  • How is this different from Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) training?

    This 2-3 hour workshop covers child passenger safety basics, and is completed at a participant's own pace. It provides general knowledge and information. CPST training involves extensive in-class and hands-on support, and is taught over 3 days.

  • How long does this workshop take to complete?

    Most participants will complete this workshop in 2-3 hours. It does not need to be completed all at once. Participants go at their own pace, and can save their work and come back to it later.
